Bihar born sub-lieutenant Shivangi becomes first woman pilot for Indian Navy

NEW DELHI: Sub-lieutenant Shivangi became the first woman pilot for the Indian Navy on Monday. Sub-lieutenant Shivangi who has done her schooling from DAV Public school, Muzzafarpur, Bihar, was formally commissioned by Vice Admiral AK Chawla, last June.

She had joined the Indian Navy as SSC (Pilot) as part of 27 NOC course in Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.

Sub-lieutenant Shivangi was commissioned into the Indian Navy last year after her initial training.She joined operational duties at the Kochi naval base today.

Sub-lieutenant will be flying the Dornier surveillance aircraft of the Indian Navy.
